๐ Mozilla has released Firefox 157 with Project Nova, its biggest redesign in years. The update refreshes the browserโs toolbars, menus, sidebars, and themes, giving users a cleaner interface with light and dark options. It also brings back compact mode, which reduces spacing between tabs and in the toolbar, so people on small screens can fit more content on the page.
Firefox 157 adds AV1 hardware decoding for WebRTC video calls on supported devices, which can improve performance and lower system strain. Mozilla also added a warning when the browser is set to record encryption keys, since that could let other software read encrypted traffic.
The release fixes several bugs, including upside down mobile video, search issues in the address bar, washed out HDR playback on Windows, audio and video sync problems, vertical tabs glitches, and fullscreen taskbar overlap.
