The classic Windows Media Player, now dubbed "Legacy", just lost the ability to fetch lyrics and captions. Microsoft has silently removed this capability from the app. The menu where you could enable the feature has been shrunk. Instead of Off/On/Default... entries, it now only shows "On if available". Moreover, clicking the survived command leads you away to the modern Media Player app.
Not that I miss this a lot. Personally, I never thought WMP was a great app, but at some point in my life I enjoyed looking at its capabilities and options. Some of its versions had impressive design, say Windows Media Player 10.
However, I don't understand such moves. It is like Microsoft is collecting for what people use the classic WMP, and then forces them to do this in their modern app, which not everyone obviously like.
