🇮🇹🇧🇦 Italian military helicopter crashes in Bosnia, 4 dead

An Italian Army CH-47F Chinook serving with the EU's military mission in Bosnia, EUFOR Althea, crashed on Thursday afternoon near the village of Gorice in the Brčko District, northeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Four Italian servicemen were killed and 11 injured, according to EUFOR. Three died at the scene and a fourth died later in Brčko hospital. All 15 people on board were Italian. One of the injured is reported to be in critical condition and may be transferred to Tuzla.

Eyewitnesses said the helicopter was flying low and spun several times in the air before going down in an uninhabited area just short of the first houses in the village. Footage circulating online appears to show the Chinook rotating out of control as it descended.

EUFOR says the flight was a routine operation and has launched an investigation. Italy's Defence Ministry says the cause is still being established. EUFOR also urged locals not to spread "unverified information" and to rely only on official channels.
