◾️Earlier Geran-type drones could often be chased by cheaper propeller-driven interceptor drones. Jet-powered versions change that calculation: a slow interceptor trying to catch one is a little like a bicycle chasing a sports car — admirable effort, difficult result.

◾️That pushes Ukraine back toward surface-to-air missiles. They are effective, but expensive, scarce and also needed for cruise and ballistic missiles; spending them all on drones is not exactly a budget-friendly hobby.

◾️The issue is not one drone alone. It is the prospect of repeated mass raids forcing air-defence crews to use limited missiles against targets that can be produced in very large numbers.
