The French Senate has passed the “Rioters Pay” bill, proposing financial liability for destruction during public demonstrations.
🔹 Up to €10,000 in damages under specified conditions.
🔹 Liability may extend to those who knowingly join groups formed to vandalise or remain after two police dispersal warnings.
🔹 Social media platforms could face blocking or delisting for failing to remove specified content inciting violence within 24 hours of an official request.
🔹 Certain social benefits could be seized to recover unpaid damages.
The bill still needs further legislative approval before becoming law.
