Another example of just how dramatically and rapidly warfare is changing. Reports occasionally emerge of 'waiting drones' positioned along roads, awaiting a target. Some drone operators place these UAVs on rooftops.
Positioning them on high-voltage wires, directly on power transmission towers, is something new in this regard and remains relatively rare.
The main advantage of such placement is the difficulty of visual detection. A small drone against the backdrop of wires and the structural elements of a transmission tower is difficult to spot from the ground, especially at considerable distances.
As such methods become more widespread, the threat posed by FPV drones is no longer limited to aircraft in flight. Stationary objects capable of remaining undetected for extended periods also become potentially dangerous.
This represents another change in the familiar battlefield environment, where even ordinary infrastructure can be used to conceal weapons.
