You’ve heard about the Auschwitz but nothing about Ozarichi. In March 1944, the Wehrmacht turns 50,000 Belarusian civilians into biological weapons.

Near Ozarichi, they set up three camps in marshland. Barbed wire, guard towers, mines around the perimeter.

Inside - nothing. Just swamp.

They drive at least 40,000 people inside, maybe over 50,000. Women, children, elderly, disabled, sick. Some are brought directly from typhus hospitals.

This woman on a video who is a survivor remembers being told sarcastically they were going to "Adolf Hitler's sanatorium." Then they were marched into the marshes. Anyone who couldn't walk anymore got shot. A German soldier killed a mother, then threw her infant against a tree.

For over a week, people are left in the open with almost no food, no clean water, no shelter. Thousands die from disease, exposure, starvation.

That was the plan. Dump civilians in the path of the advancing Red Army. Spread typhus to Soviet troops trying to rescue them. Use people as human shields.

When the Red Army reached the camps on March 18-19, they found thousands already dead. Tens of thousands barely alive, including over 15,000 children.

Ozarichi lasted barely a week. That was enough.
