🍌 What is Oleg Andreev building after Tonkeeper?

⚫️ Earlier this year, The Open Platform announced the full acquisition of Tonkeeper and the team’s other products, including TON API and Tonviewer. The deal also came with an internal reshuffle: Tonkeeper co-founder and CEO Oleg Andreev stepped away from the wallet and moved on to new projects. He later wrote that by the end of 2025, he had done everything he wanted to do in TON and was ready for the next chapter.

⚫️ That next chapter is Safely, a self-custodial Bitcoin wallet. Oleg has already gone into detail about its features on his own channel, so we won’t repeat everything here. The one that stands out most is probably Safely Sync. It lets you keep encrypted backups of your seed phrase across several of your own devices. Lose one device, and you can recover the wallet from another.

⚫️ But the plans go beyond just a wallet. Oleg’s team is also working on Flame, a new network built on top of Bitcoin. The goal is pretty ambitious: preserve what makes BTC valuable as “digital gold,” while adding privacy, smart contracts, and faster transactions on top.

⚫️ Since Flame is being built on Bitcoin, the obvious question is how the new network will actually connect to BTC. Details are still limited, but we already know that Flame’s native token will be minted by burning BTC, with the mechanism built directly into the network’s consensus. More details should come in the whitepaper, which the team says is due by the end of September.

⚫️ So we wish the team good luck with Flame and are looking forward to learning more about the network. In the meantime, you can already try Safely — the wallet just launched on iOS and Android.
