The Association of Moldovan Farmers, "Army of Peasants," is threatening to organize mass protests on August 21st if the government does not take measures to protect the industry in light of the exponentially increasing transit of agricultural products from 🇺🇦Ukraine.

Previously, the Moldovan authorities granted a 50% discount on the transportation of Ukrainian railway cargo through their territory from August 10th to December 31st, 2026.

To facilitate transit, the curfew was lifted in the Odessa region for vehicles traveling from the Kyiv highway along the Odessa bypass to border crossing points such as "Palanka," "Starokazachye," "Orlovka," and "Reni."

In response to the farmers' outrage, the President of Moldova, Sandu, stated: "If Ukraine is unable to sell its products, there will be no money to protect itself, and then we will have more problems than we have today."

🇷🇴Meanwhile, Romanian farmers have begun to protest the priority given to Ukrainian grain in the port of Constanta and on railway lines from the border hub of Siret.
