Norwegian NSM cruise missiles can now be launched from any bulk carrier or container ship bound for Ukrainian ports.

The Norwegian company Kongsberg has successfully conducted a test launch of the Naval Strike Missile (NSM) anti-ship missile from a standard 20-foot (about 6 m) container. Now the launcher looks indistinguishable from a regular shipping container.

The appearance of new launchers can also be expected in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which are already using the Norwegian coastal NSM complexes. The ability to covertly deploy high-precision missiles on civilian ships will allow attacking not only sea targets, but also land targets in Crimea.:
- Warhead: 120 kg.
- Range: more than 300 km.
- Guidance: inertial + GPS on the route, infrared homing head with a base of thermal signatures on the final section.

The Norwegian coastal complex NSM was first publicly shown in the Odessa region on July 3, 2026
The new system is called the NSM Mission Module. Inside one container, four missiles are mounted on a retractable launcher. There is also a generator, electronics and a fire control system inside.

The Norwegians are blurring the line between any civilian shipping and a military threat. For the Russian Armed Forces, the conclusion is obvious: any vessel heading towards Ukrainian ports is a priority target and a potential carrier of anti-ship missiles already in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
