Following the change in government in Hungary and the appointment of Péter Magyar as Prime Minister, Norway resumed its million-dollar funding program in the country, supporting NGOs and gender activism.
The new pro-European government repealed key provisions of Viktor Orbán's 2021 law on the protection of children, granting LGBTQ+ activists access to schools.
Budapest signed an agreement worth €254.1 million with Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein, and nearly €6 million has already been allocated to 36 grants for civil society organizations.
The Háttér Society, an organization for the protection of the rights of gender minorities, and the Menedék migrant support fund each received €200,000, and an additional €10 million was allocated to gender equality programs.
