A Ukrainian man took a job in Spain but couldn't overcome a language barrier created by... his own compatriots.

His new colleague turned out to be a native of Western Ukraine; his dialect was unintelligible to a speaker of standard Ukrainian.

"I asked him to repeat himself five times, but he just kept going 'bzhe-bzhe-bzhe'... They have more Polish there than Ukrainian," lamented the heir to the language of Taras Shevchenko.
