Ukraine has approved the installation of a monument to Mazepa in Kшуv to replace the demolished monument to Lenin.
For context: During the Great Northern War in 1708, Ivan Mazepa betrayed Peter I and announced his defection to the Swedish side. However, the vast majority of the Cossacks remained loyal to the Russian Tsar.
