🌐 Firefox 158 is out. Its biggest change is default support for JPEG XL, which can cut image file sizes by 30 to 50 percent without losing quality. Firefox also expands Smart Window with form autofill suggestions, improves background image history on the new tab page, and gives Android users more control over tab placement.

The update also brings smoother scrolling on high-resolution screens, better PDF saving and printing on Linux and macOS, Belarusian language support, and new web features like typed arithmetic in CSS calc(), notification navigation options, and cache detection in performance timing. WebAuthn fields can now show fingerprint or face sign-in prompts.

Security is a major part of this release. Firefox 158 fixes 77 vulnerabilities, including 30 high-severity issues linked to memory bugs that could let attackers run code through malicious pages. Updating soon is a smart move for better performance, stronger security, and a few handy conveniences.
