🎮 Microsoft has created Xbox XP, a new division focused on taking game franchises beyond games and into film, merchandise, theme parks, and live events. Kayleen Walters, who worked on the Minecraft movie and spent 13 years at Lucasfilm, will lead the unit. Xbox chief Asha Sharma said the XP name refers to experience points and outlined four areas of work, Xbox Pictures, Xbox Products, Xbox Places, and Xbox Partnerships. These teams will handle screen adaptations, licensed merchandise, large scale events, attractions, and collaborations with brands and creators. Microsoft also appointed Maria Angelidou Smith as the new CEO of Mojang, the studio behind Minecraft. The company wants leaders who can connect creators, technology, monetization, and big audiences.
