🌐 Microsoft Edge 156 Stable is out with various improvements. The most notable one is Site permissions dialog. It now looks and works the same on webpages and in Settings, so it’s simpler to review and change what sites can access. Autofill has also been expanded on desktop to cover more document types, including passports and driver’s licenses.
The address bar key icon now shows richer account details, with quick-copy options for usernames and passwords, plus notes for storing recovery info and security questions. Managed devices also get a new startup consent prompt for Edge launch behavior, with admin policy support. The release also fixes a startup issue after scheduled updates, and adds a new RemixAvailability policy while retiring some older autofill policies.
Microsoft has also announced that the upcoming Edge 157 with terminate support for the legacy direct sign-in implementation via WAM in Windows, completing the transition to OneAuth. Also, Microsoft starts removing support for browser-native XSLT (Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations). In Edge 157, they will become disabled by default.
